Glossary
Short definitions of the terms used across STRAT Network.
- App-chain
- A blockchain dedicated to one application or project, rather than shared by many.
- DAO
- Decentralized Autonomous Organization — a community that makes decisions through on-chain proposals and votes.
- EVM
- Ethereum Virtual Machine — the runtime that executes Solidity smart contracts. EVM-compatible chains run existing Ethereum contracts and tools.
- Gas

- Interoperability
- The ability of chains to exchange messages and assets with each other.
- Layer-0
- The base layer that chains settle to and that connects them into one network.
- Native messaging
- Communication between STRAT chains built into the network, without third-party bridges.
- Proposal
- A formal request the DAO votes on — for example a grant, a treasury allocation or a new chain launch.
- Quorum
- The minimum participation a vote needs before its result counts.
- Settlement
- The point where a chain's state is finalized on the base layer.
- Staking
- Locking tokens to take part in governance and, in return, receive rewards.
- Treasury
- The pool of funds the DAO controls and allocates by vote.
- TVL
